Happy Halloween

Halloween for me, like some aspects of Christmas, is an opportunity for me to be creative and put some seldom used skills to use. So even though it is stressful at times, I enjoy the satisfaction of creating something and of course the "oohs and aahs" that I get as a result. I guess it's my once a year "pat on the back" and proof that I can do something other than dishes, laundry and cooking. Seth wanted to be the Pokemon "Pikachu", so that was my challenge this year to be able to figure out how to make it. It came out well and he was very pleased with it. Much to my dismay at first, Zach wanted to be a blue Power Ranger. Yeah, you know the cheaply made, but expensive, polyester, dime a dozen costumes. I finally gave in when I found it resale and the kid was thrilled. (truth be told, I ended up glad because I ended up with plenty to do for the others.) My ooh and aah effect came from Malia and Jonah. Since Malia was Yoda last year, I wanted to get into the "girly" costume this year. I bought a Little Bo Peep costume because it was adorable and then I made a sheep costume for Johan to be her little lost sheep. It was a big hit and very fun. Five minutes before we left for our church Trunk or Treat Halloween party, Phil suggested going as "Dancing with the Stars". Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures, but the dress I wore was my Senior Dinner Dance dress from High School, which I have to admit fit perfectly. (the food allergy diet sure helps!) I threw it in the costume box years ago thinking it might be a fun dress up someday. Of course I was thinking it would be dress up for Malia, not me. I think we've got enough candy to last until at least next Halloween. Anybody want some?

I can't tell you how thrilled I am that you've joined in the blogging fun! I loved what you shared about Halloween because it all reminds me so much of myself. I didn't make a single costume this year and though I enjoyed a stree-free month (as stress-free as any mother-of-three can experience:). I felt sad when someone asked if I made Jade's costume and had to say "no." The costumes are seriously impressive! Good for you!

And now that you are a blogger... I'm TAGGING you! You have to share 6 things other people may not know about you. I can't wait to see what you write!
